Youth

In grateful response to God’s grace and empowered by the Holy Spirit, Peace Lutheran Church Youth Ministry strives to strengthen the youth to develop a mature and active relationship with Jesus Christ and to be disciples and leaders for Him in this church and in the community. This ministry focuses on youth in grades 6-12.  We have many exciting faith-building and fellowship activities for the youth throughout the year!  

LOFT (Letting Our Faith Thrive) for 9th-12th grade and LUFF (Letting Us Find Faith) for 6th-8th grade meet at 6:00pm every Wednesday.
LUCK (Lifting Up Christ King) for 1st - 5th grade meets at 5:30 p.m. every Wednesday (LUCK not currently meeting)

Peace Lutheran Church Scholarship Policy

The purpose of the Peace Lutheran Church Scholarship Fund is to demonstrate the church’s commitment to our young people in their endeavors toward attaining higher education. To this end, the Scholarship Committee uses available funds to make awards to students who are members of the church and are pursuing their first undergraduate degree. Applicants will have the responsibility of adhering to the guidelines/policy set forth by the Scholarship Committee to meet eligibility.  The Scholarship committee can, at their discretion, award funds up to $1000 per year.

Eligibility: To be eligible to receive funds through the Scholarship Committee, the student shall meet the following requirements:

1. Maintain membership at Peace Lutheran Church, Edmond, OK during the 12 months prior to submitting an application.

2. Applicant must enroll as a full-time student (carrying at least 12 hours) for the upcoming Fall semester at a college or university, or enrolled at an Oklahoma Trade School or Vocational School for the coming Fall semester.

3. Attain a cumulative high school minimum Grade Point Average of 2.5

4. Regular participation in Worship and Sunday School. (twice monthly for the past 12 months)

5. Have attended at least one Youth Mission trip or one summer as a camper at a Lutheran bible camp in high school.

6. Complete a one-page essay titled and explaining “What Being A Lutheran Means To Me”.

7. Applicant must be a current High School Senior.

An individual applicant can only receive this scholarship one time.   Special students will not be considered (e.g., students who are not pursing a degree or those who have not declared a major). Only those students who have been formally or provisionally admitted to a college or university or Trade or Vocational school will be considered.

GENERAL GUIDELINES

Application process is as follows:

Scholarship Applications will be made available to students on the Youth and Family resource table located in the Peace Lutheran Church Narthex.  Application, including transcript and essay, must be turned into the church office by April 29th. Any applications turned in after this date will not be considered for scholarship funds. Unofficial transcripts are needed for verification of High School Diploma and GPA.  All information submitted to the Scholarship Committee is considered privileged and confidential and is intended solely for use by the committee. Any other use of this material is prohibited. At the end of the process, (approximately two weeks) the names of recipients will be published in the Peace Lutheran Church Newsletter, and student/parents will receive written notification by mail.  The Scholarship Committee is composed of members of the Peace Lutheran Church who volunteer to serve. When a relative of a member of the Committee applies for a scholarship, the Committee member will excuse themselves from the selection process.

The Scholarship Committee will make its decision by a committee majority and its decision shall be considered final.  Submit application(s) and all supporting documents to:
